A collection of letters, mainly written by Michael ‘Kick’ Murphy, a Hull-born apprentice during his long working voyages on two Bank Line sailing ships, Thistlebank and Castlebank during the 1890s.
The original letters were discovered in a house in North Hull, UK, by Linda and Victor Randerson when they were clearing the personal effects of a deceased relative of Linda. The Michael Murphy Letter Collection is now loaned to the Hull History Centre, UK.
